Privacy Policy

Zaptitude (“Zaptitude,” “we,” “us”) is operated by Nine Acre Design Co.. This policy covers the Zaptitude student app at app.zaptitude.io, Zaptitude for Schools at schools.zaptitude.io, and our website at zaptitude.io. Questions go to nineacredesign@gmail.com.

Zaptitude is built for high school students. You must be at least 13 to create an account. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we delete it. If you think a child under 13 has signed up, tell us at nineacredesign@gmail.com.

When you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address, and profile picture with us. We never see your Google password, and we can't see your email, contacts, files, or anything else in your Google account.

What you tell us:

• Your answers during setup and in the career survey: what matters to you in work, which fields interest you, and how you feel about college or training after high school.
• Your school, if you choose to connect it, and your grade or birth year if you give them to us.
• Careers and paths you save, plans you build, and any notes or target dates you add to them.
• Anything you type into search, including descriptions of the kind of life or work you want.

What we notice while you use Zaptitude:

• Which careers and pages you look at, what you tap, and how long you spend on them.
• Basic technical details such as your browser, device type, and approximate location based on your IP address.

From your school: if your school uses Zaptitude for Schools, counselors may add notes and follow-up flags to your profile, record outcomes such as a counselor conversation or a course enrollment, and in some cases record information the school must report under federal career and technical education law (the Perkins V Act).

• To run Zaptitude: keep you signed in, save your progress, and show you what you saved.
• To make it more useful for you: match careers to your interests and answers.
• To write comparisons and search results with AI (more on that below).
• To improve Zaptitude: learning which features help and which confuse people.
• To give your school the reports it asks for, only if you connected your school.
• To keep Zaptitude secure and to meet our legal obligations.

We don't use your information for advertising, and we don't build profiles of you for anyone else.

Some features, like career comparisons and searching by the kind of life you want, are written by an AI model made by Anthropic. When you use them, we send Anthropic the text you typed and the career information being compared. We don't send your name or email. Anthropic doesn't use this information to train its models.

AI can get things wrong. Treat what it writes as a starting point to talk through with someone you trust, not as advice.

Connecting your school is optional. If you do, counselors and administrators at your school or district who use Zaptitude for Schools can see your profile, your setup answers, the careers you explore and save, and your plans. They use this to support you and to report on their career programs.

When a school uses Zaptitude, the school stays in control of student information that comes through it. We act for the school as a “school official” under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), use that information only to provide Zaptitude to the school, and don't share it with anyone the school hasn't authorized. Parents who want to review or correct school records can contact the school or us.

We never sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with:

• Companies that help us run Zaptitude, under contracts that limit them to doing that job: Supabase (database and sign-in), Vercel (hosting), PostHog (usage analytics), Anthropic (AI features), and Google (sign-in).
• Your school, only if you connected it, as described above.
• The law, when we're legally required to, or to protect someone's safety.
• A new owner, if Zaptitude is ever sold or merged. They would have to keep the promises in this policy for the information we already have.

We use your Google account only to sign you in and to show your name and picture in Zaptitude. Zaptitude's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

We use cookies to keep you signed in and to understand how Zaptitude is used (through PostHog). We don't use advertising cookies or let ad networks track you on Zaptitude.

We keep your information while your account is open. You can ask us to see, correct, download, or delete your information at any time by emailing nineacredesign@gmail.com from the address you sign in with. When we delete an account, we remove its personal information within 30 days, except anything we're legally required to keep.

If you're a parent or guardian of a student under 18, you can make these requests for your child. If the information came through a school, we may check with the school first.

Your information is encrypted when it travels between you and us, and access inside Zaptitude is limited so that students see only their own information and schools see only their own students. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach ever affects your information, we'll tell you and your school as the law requires.

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use information we already have, we'll tell you in Zaptitude before it takes effect.
